Boys beaten and stabbed as gang of nine attack them outside college

Two teenage boys were beaten and stabbed in an attack by a gang of nine outside their college.

The two victims, both aged 16 at the time and from Liverpool, suffered what Cheshire Police described as “serious injuries” during the incident on Kingsway in Widnes at around 2.50pm on Monday, February 3, 2020. They were taken from the scene outside Riverside College to hospital by ambulance and received treatment for puncture wounds before being discharged.

A large emergency services presence was deployed to the scene. Nine teenagers were charged with violent disorder in connection with the incident and all have now pleaded guilty to a variety of offences reflecting different involvement.

The trial of six remaining suspects was due to start on Monday at Liverpool Crown Court but following legal discussions they entered guilty pleas to various charges of violent disorder, a Section 4 Public Order offence or assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH)..

Sean Self, 19, of Berryedge Crescent, Huyton, pleaded guilty to violent disorder on the basis he had no knowledge any weapons were to be used and he only expected a “fist fight”.

Jamie Mann, 19, of Mardale Road, Huyton, and Callum Francis, 19, of Glebe Hey, Huyton, both pleaded not guilty to violent disorder but guilty to a Section 4 Public Order offence, namely threatening words or behaviour.
