A boyfriend who knifed his partner to death after forcing her to take a pregnancy test to prove she was not having another man's baby has been jailed.
Mark Alexander was today locked up for 15 years for the murder of Azaria Williams, who suffered 96 stab wounds in a "savage attack" at her home in Clapham, southwest London.
CCTV played in the court showed the couple in Sainsbury's buying the test and cigarettes just 30 minutes before the killing.
During a row on December 27, 2020, Ms Williams, 26, poured the urine sample over Alexander, 29, the defendant claimed.
The pair began dating in summer 2018 and moved in together in March 2020.
Neighbours had often heard them rowing.
Hannah Toumazo, who called the police, said she was watching TV with a friend during their final argument, with her pal saying "he is going to kill her".
She told the emergency call handler Ms Williams had been "really screaming".
"She is screaming 'No, no,' she is screaming like she is being attacked," she said.
Police officers forced entry and found Ms Williams lying face down in a pool of blood propped up against her front door.
Paramedics attended the scene, but were unable to save her life and she was pronounced dead a short time after.
Alexander told them he had "not done anything" as he was handcuffed, claiming a man called Adrian Thomas was behind the attack.
"[He is] the person who is sleeping with my ex," said Alexander.
"I woke up and found her like this."
Judge Sarah Munro, QC, told Alexander, of Brixton, south London, that she was sentencing him for murder after the jury rejected his guilty plea to manslaughter by way of diminished responsibility.
"You have deprived her family and friends of a dearly loved young woman who had her whole life ahead of her," she said.
"Her parents and one of her sisters are here today and clearly all who knew her are devastated by her loss.
"She did absolutely all she could to support and help you and she loved you despite your difficulties and the way you treated her on occasion," Judge Munro continued.
"She even hoped that you and she would marry and have a family together."
In May 2020, Ms Williams called the domestic abuse helpline and in August, moved out into a flat in Clapham, the judge went on.
She said Alexander falsely accused Ms Williams of cheating on him and on December 1, 2020, head-butted her, resulting in a black eye.
The judge said the defendant was convinced he had seen his victim in a car with Mr Thomas on December 5, who he believed she was having an affair with.
Referring to the day of Ms Williams' death, Judge Munro said Alexander had forced her to prove she was not pregnant and "prove thereby that she was not having an affair".
The judge told Alexander the horrific attack was "prolonged", and his victim suffered multiple defensive wounds suggesting she was still alive and trying to fight him off until succumbing to blood loss.
Ms Williams mum, dad and sister cried in court's well as the sentence was passed.
The devastated mother, Karen Downes, said after making a memorial for her daughter three homeless men approached and said she always gave them money.
She said she always had concerns about Alexander and was "livid" when she came round with a black eye.
Mrs Downes said on the death of her daughter's death she had "mother's instinct" that something was wrong.
Alexander had been on anti-psychotic medication since 2008 and experienced a number of psychotic episodes during unmedicated periods, the court heard.
His mental health difficulties had been interspersed with offending, with six court appearances for seven separate offences, the court heard.
Evidence is said to have suggested that Alexander stopped taking his medication on December 12.
James Wood, QC, defending, said that his client's "long standing illness" affected his behaviour.
Mr Wood also argued that Alexander had not "planned" the attack, but had been triggered by an argument arising from the pregnancy test.
