Boy George only did I'm A Celeb 'for cash' says goddaughter Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace

Boy George is arguably one of the most legendary stars to ever grace the I'm A Celebrity jungle, and with that title comes reports of the highest free given by ITV bosses to the Karma Chameleon hit-maker.

The 1980s music icon, 61, is reported to have bagged an eye-watering £500,000 for his stint in the jungle where he has been camping alongside the likes of former Health Secretary Matt Hancock, and England footballer, Jill Scott.

While it seems that Boy George doesn't need the money, given his incredible success in the music industry, his goddaughter, Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace is not surprised the singer agreed to appear on the ITV show.

Aisleyne, who first shot to fame in 2006 on Big Brother, has insisted that her godfather deserves the huge cheque given his stature as a global artist.

The reality TV star is certain that Boy George agreed to head to the jungle simply because of the huge sum of money he would be receiving at the end of his experience.

Regardless of the challenges, the life-changing experiences, the friends made, and the personal tests conquered, Aisleyne has said that it was the money that won Boy George over.

"Of course, it was the money that got him in there," she told The Sun.

"He’s an absolute living legend and a diva, he’s not going to take a penny crumb. He’s an artist - reality stars are reality stars and that’s fine but people like him are one of a kind."

Aisleyne's predictions come after it was reported that Boy George threw a 'temper tantrum' and threatened to quit I'm A Celebrity after the crew refused his request to travel back to camp on a golf buggy after a trial.

The singer, 61, is said to have not been keen to walk back to camp after doing a Bushtucker trial. The journey reportedly involved a 'steep hill' within the jungle in Australia.

It's been reported that campmate Sue Cleaver, 59, is allowed to be driven in a buggy 'under special conditions'. The rest of the campmates are said to have to walk back.

Reports claim that Boy George was denied the opportunity to travel back in a buggy after a trial. He reportedly threw a 'massive strop,' stole an apple and hid in the jungle in response.

A source told The Sun: "He threw a massive strop and demanded to be driven in his own buggy - but ITV were having none of it as they said it wouldn't be fair on the others.

"He then stormed into one of the production crew tents and pinched an apple, before hiding behind trees so that he couldn’t be filmed by any of the show's cameras.

They described it as a 'proper temper tantrum' and said that Boy George was 'threatening' to quit the ITV show. Producers reportedly managed to talk him out of leaving.

The source described the situation as a 'storm in a teacup'. They further commented that Boy George recognised that in the end and said he agreed to head back to camp.

The Mirror has reached out to Boy George's representatives for comment.

I'm A Celebrity continues tonight (November 21) on ITV and ITV Hub from 9pm. You can catch up on recent episodes from the latest series through the ITV Hub.
