Actor Rory Cowan has backed superstar Boy George to win I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here.
The former Mrs Brown’s Boys star said that although he doesn’t personally know the singer, he wants him to win the series.
Rory said: “I hope he wins. I really do because years ago when Elton was getting married and Freddie Mercury and George Michael was supposed to be going out with one of the girls from Pepsi and Shirley, Boy George 40 years ago when it wasn’t the done thing, to me, Boy George was (coming out as gay).
“And he started off his career like that. He didn’t do it later on.
“On the gay scene, we loved him. We absolutely adored him.”
The Dubliner said that despite being a few years younger than him, he would describe him as a role model.
“I remember thinking ‘this guy is amazing’, he’s doing what gay people need to be doing. This was in 1982.
“I really do like him and anytime something happens, he always stands up and says ‘Yeah I did it.’
“I love that,” he said.
