Firefighters, police and paramedics attended the Whitchurch and Llandaff North areas this afternoon. There were social media reports of a heavy emergency services presence on Ty-Mawr Road and Heol Don. A National Police Air Service helicopter from St Athan searched the area. One witness said the riverside path was closed off in Llandaff North.
One local wrote on social media shortly after 5pm that they had seen 25 emergency vehicles parked by the water wheel in Whitchurch. Our photographer reported just after 8pm that Whitchurch was clear of emergency services. At around that time the BBC reported that one person had been taken to the University Hospital of Wales following the search. Our full coverage of the incident can be found here.
