Boy arrested: Stolen car rams bottle shops, leads police on chase

Police have arrested and charged a 14-year-old boy. File picture

A STOLEN car was allegedly used to ram bottle shops and lead police on a chase before the teenage driver was allegedly tracked to a home on the Central Coast.

Brisbane Water police tried to stop a vehicle, which had been reported stolen, after they spotted it on Trafalgar Avenue at Umina Beach at about 2am on Friday.

Police allege the stolen car was used to ram two liquor stores as part of break-and-enters where alcohol was taken.

The vehicle allegedly failed to pull over as directed and police gave chase.

PolAir, the force's aerial command, tracked the car to a Umina Beach address where the driver allegedly fled into a home.

Police searched the property and allegedly uncovered and seized several "items of interest".

A 14-year-old boy was arrested at the scene and taken to Gosford Police Station.

He was charged with two counts of aggravated break-and-enter and commit serious indictable offence, two counts of destroy or damage property, police pursuit, stealing and driving a car, and driving on a road having never held a licence.

He was refused bail by police before fronting children's court on Friday, where a magistrate granted him conditional bail to appear before the same court next month.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing and anyone with information has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
