Boy, 5, who died in hot car after mum forgot he was strapped in pictured

A five-year-old boy who died in a hot car after his mum forgot he was strapped in for up to three hours has been pictured.

Amanda Means, 36, forgot her son Trace was still in the backseat of her car when she returned home and parked right outside their family home in Texas .

Trace was said to be strapped in the car for 2-3 hours as temperatures reached a blistering 37C.

He has now been pictured in sweet family pictures, beaming alongside his older sister and parents.

His mum had reportedly entered the house to begin preparations for her older daughter's birthday party when she realised her son was missing.

After running to her parked Porsche SUV, she found Trace unresponsive in the backseat before immediately calling emergency services.

Police arrived to the family home where the Trace was sadly pronounced dead.

His mother has not been charged in connection with his death but police are investigating.

In a Facebook post from Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, he said the mum had witnessed her eight-year-old daughter exit to car and enter the house.

With Trace knowing how to unbuckle his seatbelt, she assumed he had released himself from his seat and followed his sister into the house.

Preparations for the older sister's party were ongoing at the time.

Sheriff Gonzalez told Fox29: "They were in full excitement with the business of getting everything ready.

"They exited the car and went inside the house to continue preparations. The mum went inside with the other sibling."

Police have not made any charges against the mother but are investigating the incident (Facebook)

A bouncy castle could reportedly be seen from the street.

The tragedy marked the fifth child to die from heatstroke after being left in a car this year alone.

Police are investigating the tragic death, but do not believe foul play was a cause.
