A little boy miraculously survived after a nine-foot snake dragged him into a swimming pool.
Beau Blake, five, was out playing beside the pool in the garden of his family's home in Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia when the enormous python struck.
After dragging him in, Beau's 76-year-old granddad was the hero who dived into the pool to rescue him.
Speaking with Australia's 3AW Breakfast, Ben said: “He passed him up to me and then I had to separate the two.
"I released him from his leg. It was somewhat of an ordeal.”
Recalling what happened, Ben said: "Beau was swimming with his brother yesterday, and just out of the blue, probably a three-metre python decided to wrap his mouth around his achilles, his ankle.
"They both rolled into the pool and the python wrapped himself around him."
Ben said he believes the snake had been hiding in a patch of greenery beside the pool.
"It was instant. I saw a big black shadow come out of the bush and before they hit the bottom it was completely wrapped around his leg," he said.
" [...]It is Australia, they are about. But a big python like that lurking in the bushes right next to the pool, not so much.
Beau is doing well, even after such a traumatic event, the Byron Bay dad said.
The youngster was initially panicking, thinking he was going to die, but his dad reassured him he would be fine because the python isn't a poisonous snake.
Ben said he wrestled with the snake for about 10 minutes before deciding to release it.
But the "naughty thing" went straight back to the "scene of the crime", he added.
Last month, a gran was eaten alive by a 22-foot python in Indonesia after she disappeared while working on a plantation.
Jahrah, 54, was collecting rubber in the Jambi province on Friday when she disappeared.
Her worried family raised the alarm and started searching the woodland when they came across the massive reptile stretched out in a clearing two days later.
Horrified locals noticed a large bulge in its tummy, and their worst fears were confirmed when they cut it open and found Jahrah in the stomach.
