A five-year-old boy who had his new puppy stolen was reunited with his furry friend.
The 12-week-old French Bulldog puppy, Stitch, was missing from his bed after Karen Higgins, 30, heard dishes crashing and a candle smash on the window ledge at around 10pm on Thursday, May 19. The mum-of-two ran into her road on Wilburn Street, Walton, shouting 'somebody is in my house' and called police.
Karen had only bought the dog a month earlier for her five-year-old son Tyler, who is autistic and struggles communicating with people. Since coming into their home Karen said Stitch was 'stuck to Tyler like glue'.

On Friday evening Karen and Tyler were reunited with Stitch after officers from Merseyside Police brought him back to their Walton home with him in their arms. Karen said she couldn't thank Merseyside Police enough for its help.
She told The ECHO : "Since he came into the house (Stitch) he's made a bond with this boy, they're inseparable. I can't even describe this bond. He was staying at his dad's and every time I FaceTime him he says 'where's the baby', that's what he calls Stitch."
After the incident Merseyside Police arrested a 31-year-old after finding Stitch's collar in a home in Walton. Jonathan Waters, of Wilburn Street, was charged with burglary of a dwelling and theft at a house and was remanded on conditional bail to appear in court on July 5.
