Police have launched an investigation into the death of a 16-year-old boy on New Year's Day in Aberdeenshire. Emergency services rushed to an address on Keirhill Avenue in the Westhill area yesterday morning after receiving reports of 'concern' for the teenager.
The youngster was taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, but tragically died a short time later. His death is currently unexplained, however there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances, Aberdeen Live reports.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of concern for a 16-year-old male at a property on Keirhill Avenue in Westhill at around 10am on Sunday, January 1.
"He was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but pronounced dead a short time later. The death is being treated as unexplained, although there are no apparent suspicious circumstances.
"A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
