A 16-year-old high on alcohol and cannabis robbed a boy of his bike at knife-point after threatening to stab him, a court has heard. Corey Thomas brandished the weapon and demanded his victim empty his pockets before he took his cycle and made off.
Earlier the same day Thomas had threatened to stab a security guard at a hotel and smashed glass doors with a pole. Swansea Crown Court heard the defendant, who is now aged 18, has taken significant steps to turn his life around since committing the armed robbery including finding work as a scaffolder with a well-respected local company.
Megan Jones, prosecuting, said the robbery happened in January 2021 on a rear lane behind houses off Gnoll Park Road in Neath. She said Thomas encountered three boys who were walking home and confronted them, producing a knife and demanding one of the boys empty his pockets or he would be stabbed.
