The youth and fellow assailant Joseph Byrne fist-bumped after leaving Christopher Molloy lying unconscious in the street, jurors at Liverpool Crown Court were told today. The 55-year-old victim had sought refuge in a McDonald's after being accosted near to Bootle Strand shopping centre in the early hours before he was attacked by the pair and fellow defendant Jay Byrne.
All three are currently standing trial accused of murdering Mr Molloy, who died in hospital as a result of his injuries a week later.
