A 12-year-old who died after he had a school swimming race could have been saved by a defibrillator.
Ever since his death, Oliver King's dad, Mark has campaigned to get defibrillators into every school in the hope no other child will die in the same way. Working alongside former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher, Mark has managed to get the life saving equipment into every state school in the country by the end of the 2022/2023 academic year.
Research shows that accessing a defibrillator within three to five minutes of a cardiac arrest increases the chance of survival by over 40% and had one been available, it is possible that King David High pupil Oliver would have survived.
