Boy, 1, orders £1,500 of furniture in shopping spree using parent's mobile phone

Parents have told how their one-year-old toddler went on a shopping spree after picking up a phone and spending almost £1,500 to refurbish the family home.

Madhu Kumar, from New Jersey, in the US, said that she was surprised to suddenly find goods arriving at her house so she asked if her husband or older children knew what was happening.

Large boxes, one after another arrived from Walmart and it turned out that it was little Ayaansh who was behind the purchases, say reports

Flower stands and chairs were among the items bought and Ayaansh had even ordered more than one of some of the products.

He sunk $2,000 (£1,483) on the new goods for the family using his mum’s phone.

“The first person came with the box and he put it next to the door. The second person came, then first step, then second step then third, it was a queue,” Madhu Kumar said, reports News12.

The family had moved into a new home and Madhu had been looking at possible furniture to buy which she had put on a virtual cart.

And 22-month-old Ayaansh, who likes to play with the phone, decided to press the button to confirm the payment.

“He just went to the cart and whatever was there, boom, he just clicked and all payments just went through,” father Pramod Kumar said.

So far the family think that about 75% of the goods have now been delivered but fortunately Walmart have said that they will refund any purchases that they don’t want.

His mum said: “He likes phones because everybody is in virtual. They are busy with their phones, his siblings always with their phones and I don’t know, I think he needs a phone."

She was also not angry with the youngster and admitted that they need to beef up the security on their phones with passwords so that he can't do it again.

"He’s so little, he’s so cute, we were laughing that he ordered all this stuff," Madhu told NBCNewYork.

And dad Pramod added: "Moving forward, we will put tough passcodes or face recognition so when he picks up the phone he finds it in locked condition.”
