Boxing legend Mike Tyson explains why he will never become a coach

Mike Tyson has claimed he doesn't have the patience to train other fighters in any new career as a boxing coach.

The legendary heavyweight is considered one of the best fighter's in the history of the blue-ribband division, having shared the ring with the likes of Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis and Frank Bruno. Tyson remains involved in boxing having continued to fight after retirement when he laced up his gloves and fought Roy Jones Jr in a high-profile exhibition.

Despite continuing to train with his own coach, Tyson has admitted he would not have time to discipline other fighters while focusing on his other business ventures. "I don't have that kind of patience," Tyson said during the latest episode of his HotBoxin' podcast. "I am not going to wake up every morning to get this guy and make sure he is running and doing the exercises and all that stuff.

"I took all the punches so my children didn't have to take the punches. I don't have time I have other business things to do, I don't have time to be in the gym every day and all day. That is what a trainer does spends all day every day in the gym. I would rather go elsewhere and make $8 million than spend all day every day in the gym. Listen when you are a trainer, you are a psychiatrist, you are a mother, a father, a step-father and an uncle you are everything."

Tyson had a hugely successful career and was recognised widely for his sensational knockout power and uniquely aggressive style. Several current heavyweight fighters look up to the legendary heavyweight including current champion Tyson Fury who was even named after the former undisputed champion.

The legendary heavyweight has remained in the gym in recent weeks and even bust open his own coach's lip in a display of his frightening power at the age of 55. In a recent interview, Tyson opened the door to another lucrative exhibition fight against YouTube star Jake Paul.

Tyson is a big fan of the Paul brothers and wants a fight with Paul to happen before the end of the year. The YouTube star will face Tommy Fury this August so any bout would have to take place in the latter stages of 2021. The legendary heavyweight believes Paul is skilled enough to compete with him in the ring and has defended his role in the sport.

"Anything is possible but it has got to happen this year," Tyson responded when asked about a clash with the YouTube star on the Jimmy Kimmel show. "That could be very interesting. He is skilled enough and I will give it to him because he is winning.

"Even if he is fighting fighters that aren't meant to be good enough, they should still be beating him but they can't. He is beating people that he shouldn't really be beating. He is doing good and he is doing things that are great for boxing."
