Boxing fans to support Advertiser's Toy Appeal at popular Fight Club event

Boxing fans are set to dig deep for the Advertiser's Christmas Toy Appeal this weekend.

Hundreds of revellers are being asked to donate a small sum of cash at Saturday evening's Fight Club event at the Alona Hotel in Motherwell.

Organised by Bothwell businessman Francis Gilluley and his wife Kerry, the event will see boxer Aaron Caldwell defend his Celtic title, whislt pushing for the British title next April. Gary Torbet will also take to the ring to fight for a novice title.

The event will see Gilluley, of the Fighting Scots Gym in Bellshill and FSG Promotions, heavily promote our festive campaign in aid of underpriviliged children and youths across South Lanarkshire, which include bucket donations and an auction.

And you too can help by purchashing a brand new toy for a child aged newborn to 12-years-old. Alternatively, we also need donations of new clothing/nightwear (all sizes), winter woolies, gift sets, fragrance, costume jewellery, games, footballs or anything you feel a child aged 13 to 18 woud like to open on Christmas day.

We also accept cash donations or gift vouchers which can be handed in to our Toy Appeal partners at the Salvation Army hall on Burnblea Street, Hamilton, daily from 10am to 12pm.

Donations are desparately needed (Hamilton Advertiser)

Toy Appeal co-ordinator Leona Greenan said: "We are extremely to grateful to Francis and Kerry Gilluley for their support with this year's Toy Appeal and indeed for taking it to their hugely popular Fight Club event this Saturday evening.

"We would encourage anyone who can to please dig deep and get right behind our appeal as your donations really do make a difference to families in need this Christmas, some of whom would awake on December 25 to little or nothing at all.

"A big thank you to also to those who have already donated this year, aswell as the many companies, churches and organisations who have already pledged their support with a donation in the coming weeks."

Donations can be handed in to either of the two Starbucks coffee shops in Hamilton (Palace Grounds Retail Park or Hamilton Retail Park), at Mecca bingo at Hamilton Retail Park, Rocca restaurant on Cadzow Street, Hamilton or at Happy Feet Nursery in Larkhall.
