KOLKATA: It was bowlers’ day at Green Park in Kanpur as 15 wickets tumbled on a truncated Day 1 of the Elite Group ‘B’ Ranji Trophy match between Uttar Pradesh and Bengal on Friday. Bengal skipper Manoj Tiwary had no hesitation in opting to field first on winning the toss after a delayed start due to morning fog.
The Bengal pacers revelled in the conditions and enjoyed bowling on a green-top wicket as Ishan Porel, Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal and Mohammed Kaif combined well to dismiss the hosts for 60 only in 20.5 overs. While Kaif claimed four for 14, Porel picked up two for 24. Debutant Jaiswal, who did well at the U-23 stage, made an immediate impact returning with three for 20.
