Andoni Iraola is to leave Bournemouth at the end of the season, with the Cherries looking to a former Manchester United coach to replace him.

Bournemouth have recorded a record points tally in each of their last two seasons, and are currently unbeaten in 2026, emphatically beating Arsenal away from home at the weekend.

But Iraola is out of contract at the end of the season, and now, The Athletic have claimed that the Basque boss will depart after failing to reach an agreement on his extension.

The Athletic's sources claim that Bournemouth have tried everything in their power to try and convince Iraola to remain on the South Coast after 15 months of negotiations.

With the Cherries selling some of their biggest stars over the past couple of years – in the form of Antoine Semenyo in January, but also Dean Huijsen, Ilya Zabarnyi and Milos Kerkez last summer, following on from Dominic Solanke the season before – Iraola's job has become incredibly difficult.

Despite this, Bournemouth are on track to finish the season strongly and have adapted well despite the sales.

Now, The Athletic claims that Kieran McKenna is being eyed as the replacement.

McKenna is still with Ipswich Town and looking to return to the top flight at the first time of asking.

The London-born Northern Irish youth international joined the academy set-up at Manchester United in 2016, and was promoted to work alongside Jose Mourinho during the Special One's time at the club, before becoming an integral part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's coaching team.

McKenna is still just 39 and FourFourTwo understands that he was one of the names considered by Chelsea before they hired Enzo Maresca.

Bournemouth currently sit 11th in the table but are just two points off seventh in the race for European football.

The seasiders take on Newcastle United this weekend when Premier League action resumes.
