Bournemouth are in advanced talks with Marco Rose to replace Andoni Iraola as their head coach. The German has emerged as the leading candidate and a deal for him to take over at the end of the season could be agreed by the end of this week.
Bournemouth have also given strong consideration to moving for Ipswich’s Kieran McKenna, but Rose is available now and boasts a strong CV. McKenna’s contract contains a buyout clause and no negotiations can be held with him before the end of the Championship season. The Northern Irishman is trying to lead Ipswich back into the Premier League and the club are likely to resist any attempt to take the 39-year-old away from Portman Road.
A deal with Rose is less complicated and it is understood Tiago Pinto, Bournemouth’s head of football operations, is hoping for a swift process. Iraola is leaving at the end of the campaign after confirming that he does not wish to extend his contract.
Bournemouth hoped to convince the Spaniard to stay, but have been planning for his exit. Rose has been out of work since being sacked by RB Leipzig in March 2025. He managed in the Champions League during his time at Borussia Dortmund, where he coached Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham, and his high-intensity pressing style would appear to make him a good fit for Bournemouth. Rose has previously worked at Borussia Mönchengladbach and RB Salzburg.
