Bought for $30 at a Michigan estate sale, this forgotten painting sold for $1.35 million after a tiny signature revealed its secret

A small painting that had spent decades out of public view has become a million-dollar art discovery after an anonymous buyer spotted a barely visible signature at a Michigan estate sale. The buyer spent just $30 on the artwork that is sized 8 by 11 inches because he saw that the name "Abercrombie" was written in the dark background of the painting.

After some months, the painting was recognized to be created by the Chicago surrealist artist, Gertrude Abercrombie and it was sold through an auction at $1.35 million.
