Per the NBA, Boston Celtics forward Grant Williams is one of several finalists for the 2021-22 Twyman Stokes Teammate of the Year Award. The award, which ” recognizes the player deemed the best teammate based on selfless play, on- and off-court leadership as a mentor and role model to other NBA players, and commitment and dedication to team” according to the league, has the Tennessee product in the running among a field of 11 other peers around the league.
Williams is up against Chicago Bulls wing DeMar DeRozan, Utah Jazz forward Rudy Gay, Denver Nuggets forward Jeff Green, Milwaukee Bucks guard Jrue Holiday, Golden State Warriors forward Andre Iguodala, Memphis Grizzlies big man Jaren Jackson, Jr., Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love, Dallas Mavericks center Boban Marjonovic, Phoenix Suns guard Chris Paul and Toronto Raptors guard Fred VanVleet.
Presumably Williams’ longstanding involvement with Celtics alumnus’ Bill Russell’s MENTOR program is the impetus for the Boston forward’s inclusion for this particular bit of league hardware.
