The priority Telangana government is according to develop different sectors has resulted in the State witnessing comprehensive development as well emerging as favourite investment destination, Industries and IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao said at an event in Boston.
The Minister, on an official visit to the U.S. with officials to promote Telangana, was participating with Governor of Massachusetts Charlie Baker in the 'Global Innovation 2022 Health Care at a Glance' programme, a release from his office on Friday said.
Underscoring the importance of creating awareness of the opportunities available in the two cities, through regular events, towards attracting more investments, Mr. Rao listed the initiatives of the State government, including the health records digitisation project in two districts on a pilot basis. “In addition to life science scientists, the coordinated effort by data scientists from the IT and technology segments will pave the way for more inventions,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Baker said there are many similarities between Hyderabad and Boston and both played host to several life sciences, pharmaceutical, IT and technology companies. Tie-ups between the companies would aid in accelerating research and development, besides spurring inventions. He also called for efforts to explore mutual investment opportunities between Boston and Hyderabad.
Another release from the Minister’s office said Mr. Rao, participating in a roundtable conference in Boston, highlighted the measures the State government has taken to promote life science sector. “Telangana government is working with a clear goal of doubling life science and pharmaceutical output,” he said.

ThermoFisher Scientific, a global leader in supply of scientific (lab) instrumentation, equipment, reagents and consumables, will soon be inaugurating its new research and development facility in Hyderabad.
The Minister’s office announced this in a release on the meeting Mr .Rao had with its VP-global operations, Life Sciences & Laboratory Products Group, Julie DeWane, and VP–Strategic Operations, Ty Mortensen.
The company is rapidly expanding its India engineering centre operations in Hyderabad, which is contributing immensely to their global operations, he said.
