Boss handed vote of confidence just weeks after Celtic hammering

Borussia Dortmund have handed a vote of confidence to manager Nuri Sahin... just a month after they put seven goals past Celtic.

The Champions League runners-up ran amok against the Hoops at the start of October, but have won just one game since then, losing three matches in the Bundesliga and were dumped out of the German Cup this week by Wolfsburg. And they've now given Sahin the dreaded vote of confidence.

Dortmund managing director Lars Ricken stressed: "We are only discussing how we can get our quality onto the pitch and win games. Nothing else.

"There are no issues between Sahin and the team.

"I see Nuri thoughtful after games, of course, he remains focused and communicative.

"His relationship with the team is intact, he prepares the games very well before and after with his team."

Meanwhile, Tony Docherty last night hit out at the penalty Celtic were awarded against his Dundee team and claimed the Dens Park club had deserved to keep a clean sheet in their William Hill Premiership defeat at Parkhead.

Simon Murray and his team mates performed superbly for the first hour of their league encounter with the defending champions in Glasgow and were still level with their opponents.

But substitute Alistair Johnston broke the deadlock shortly after taking to the field and Arne Engels wrapped up another three points for the home team when he converted a penalty.

Referee Ross Hardie ruled that Antonio Portales had pulled down Kyogo Furuhashi inside the Dundee area and his VAR colleague Matthew MacDermid over at Clydesdale House agreed.
