Borussia Dortmund manager gutted to draw Celtic at home in Champions League

Borussia Dortmund boss Nuri Sahin insisted he was gutted to draw Celtic at home... because he was desperate to play them in Glasgow.

Last season's Champions League runners-up will welcome the Hoops to Germany with the fixtures set to be announced today.

The teams have met twice before in Europe in 1988 and 1993 and Sahin, who took over as manager from Edin Terzic in the summer, was pleased with the draw.

However, he was desperate to play against Celtic at Parkhead instead of the Westfalenstadion.

He said: "It's a nice draw but I must admit I would have liked to have played Celtic away.

"They will be good and interesting opponents.

"We've got exciting games against absolute top opponents, traditional clubs - I like this mix."

And club captain Emre Can was also pleased with the draw and the new look format for the tournament.

He said: "The new format makes every game even more important in order to get a good starting position for the knockout phase.

"And we want to achieve the highs of last season again this time too. Our aim is to reach the final again.

"We have very attractive opponents waiting for us."
