Borna Barisic on the Rangers two-v-one team up against Celtic's Josip Juranovic with Croatia analyst

Borna Barisic has joked how he and the Rangers supporting Croatia analyst team up in a two-v-one situation against Josip Juranovic.

The Light Blues defender is currently at the World Cup finals with his country and started on the bench for their opening clash with Morocco. His international team-mate and Celtic counterpart was in from the start and will hope to make a big impact on the global stage.

The Hoops are reported to be ready to consider offers for the full-back after Qatar. He's under contract until 2026 after arriving last summer in a £2.5million deal from Legia Warsaw but Ange Postecoglou could be ready to listen to bids with big name clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid previously namechecked with an interest. Off the pitch, it is more light-hearted between the duo who get on well away from the goldfish bowl of the Old Firm and Barisic admits he can't resist aiming digs at the Celtic full-back behind the scenes with Scottish analyst Marc Rochon.

He told The Athletic: "Marc always wants to help you with whatever you need and it helps he is a Rangers fan so we always have stories to talk about — and the good thing is that we can be two-v-one against Josip.

“We sometimes go for dinner in Glasgow but Josip also plays all the time in the Champions League so we don’t have that much time. He’s doing his job and I’m doing mine."

Barisic will return from international duty with a new manager at Rangers following the decision to axe Giovanni van Bronckhorst on Monday.

The Dutchman departs Ibrox with the Light Blues trailing Celtic by nine points in the title race. The search for a new manager is underway with former No2 Michael Beale currently the odds-on favourite to land the role.
