The World Cup is boiling down towards the business end and some Hotline callers believe England will come to the end of their road against France on Saturday.
There was also a claim that Rangers and Croatia full-back Borna Barisic, who will face Brazil in the quarter-finals, would be now worth £50million if he pulled on the Hoops. John Bruce , emailed: "In Barisic, Rangers have a player who played 120 minutes in a European final six months ago, has just played 120 minutes in a World Cup quarter-final and will possibly play in the semi-finals. He is, without doubt, the best left back in this country and Michael Beale will likely get even more out of. With those lofty credentials, if Borna wore a green and white top, he would now be valued around £50 million."
Hoops fans have been warned to remember what was achieved during Peter Lawwell' s unprecedented first Celtic spell after he returned to Parkhead as chairman. Henry Moffat, Stirling , emailed: "Some Celtic fans have short memories.
"Peter Lawwell made a couple of big mistakes but also played a big part in the quadruple treble, the world's first and only invincible treble, and the double nine in a row. These records will never be beaten and his massive influence at the top level of European football makes him a huge asset."
Arrin Geddes, Ayrshire, emailed: "Celtic fans just keep moving forward. We’ve stopped talking about the Sydney Super Cup. We’re too busy wondering how the millions of Aussie dollars will be spent."
Lance Little, Erskine , emailed: "In reply to Hotline caller Mr Bruce and all the excuses for Rangers being so far behind the reigning champions Celtic such as injuries, it is all nonsense.
"His team normally falls away after the January break but it's much earlier this year. Another record to boast about. The truth is Celtic are better in every department from the board all the way down."
On to international matters, and it's Le Hotline ahead of England vs France. Scott Kerr, Knightswood , emailed: "Roll on Saturday when we will see France gub the arrogant English. Gareth Southgate's side are now playing a real team unlike the other nations they have beaten. I can't wait to look at their sad faces when they will be going home."
Tim Gibbens , emailed: "England’s dodgy centre-halves have had it easy so far but are about to get a full Eiffel of a top-class striker: Monsieur Mbappe. Let’s hope he gives them an evening to baguette. Au revoir, l’Angleterre!"
Alan McGaw, Alloa , emailed: "What a Samba performance by the Brazilians. South Korea could not handle the first half which saw Brazil just went into overdrive and scored four goals in 36mins. I’m sure the great Pele, who I wish to get better soon while suffering an illness, will be very happy watching the game. Brazil must be favourites to win but In football terms anything can happen"
Ian McKay, Denny , emailed: "How embarrassing is it to read fellow Scots putting down our national team and bumming up England. Neighbours or not, their fans continually sing anti-Scottish songs so who on earth would want them to be successful? The majority of fans do not like them for that reason alone, including many Rangers fans. Three lions? We only need one lion."
Robert McEwan, Mount Vernon , emailed: England have done well but they are finally meeting a decent team at this World Cup at last. No Scottish fan would surely back them to win it as they are not called 'Auld Enemy' for nothing."
Leo Messi still hasn't won the biggest international prize of all, but has nothing left to prove despite that apparently. Hugh McInulty, Glasgow , emailed: " Lionel Messi doesn’t have to be part of a winning World Cup team to be on a higher pedestal than Diego Maradona. The Champions League is of a higher standard than the World Cup and Messi has been incredible for more than ten years. The World Cup is six to eight games."
Neil Renton, Edinburgh , said: "I had to laugh at pundit Roy Keane having a go at the Brazilian players showboating against South Korea. He’s clearly jealous of players who are good at kicking the ball as opposed to opponents." William Hutchison, Aberdeen , added: "While I was impressed with Brazil's display against South Korea, the celebrations were way over the top and disrespectful to the other team. It was far too cocky."
Ally McCoist may be the fans' favourite World Cup pundit, but not everyone is a fan. Thomas Marshall , emailed: "You really can't take Ally McCoist seriously at the World Cup when he's talking about tactics. This is the guy who had the second biggest budget in Scotland and couldn't get Rangers out of the Championship."
