Boris Johnson's resignation speech in full - PM quits and blames 'herd instinct'

Boris Johnson has resigned as Prime Minister after his job became untenable following resignations from his cabinet.

He said it was "clearly the will of the parliamentary Conservative Party that there should be a new leader''.

Adding that he was sad to "give up the best job in the world" and thanked the public for the privilege of letting him serve as Prime Minister.
