Boris Johnson is expected to run to be Prime Minister of the United Kingdom again after the resignation of Liz Truss.
Ms Truss announced she would be resigning today after a disastrous six weeks in charge. Having lost the confidence of her party, the departing Prime Minister said she could not deliver on the mandate she was elected on in early September and had notified the King that she would be resigning.
After talking with backbench chairman Sir Graham Brady, it was agreed that a new leader would take over after a new leadership election lasting around a week. Mr Brady confirmed that party members will be involved in choosing the new leader.

Already some obvious names have been mentioned. Both former Chancellor Rishi Sunak and current Leader of the House Penny Mordaunt challenged Ms Truss for the role over the summer and both are believed to fancy another run for the top job.
But it is now understood that Boris Johnson, who was forced out of office by his own MPs in July is plotting a remarkable comeback just three months later.
Reports in The Times state that Mr Johnson, who quite after becoming mired in multiple scandals, is now expected to stand in the latest leadership election. Political Editor Steven Swinford said the former PM is "taking soundings" but believes it is a "matter of national interest" that he puts himself forward.
These are extraordinary times but it would be even more bizarre to see a Prime Minister who was dumped out of office by his own MPs in the summer returning to the top job just a few short months later.
