Boreham Wood manager Luke Garrard cut short his FA Cup celebrations to watch videos of their next opponents Wrexham as his focus turns to the FA Trophy.
Garrard had a whirlwind 24 hours after National League side Boreham Wood won 1-0 in the FA Cup fourth round at Bournemouth on Sunday to set up a fifth-round tie at Everton.
Before the Bournemouth game, Garrard had said he planned to party all week if his side won, and that he would only go home on Thursday to “get a change of clothes to go out again”.
But after less than three hours sleep on Sunday night, he was up at 5.30am on Monday to prepare for an appearance on Good Morning Britain.
Garrard then conducted a series of media interviews around watching videos of Wrexham, who they face in the FA Trophy on Saturday.
“I had a couple of beers on the coach, but when you then get the call that you are going to be on at 5.30am to prep, you have to kind of mute the celebrations slightly,” Garrard told Standard Sport.
“I didn’t sleep until 3am. I had a couple of hours sleep, so it’s catching up on me a little bit.
“A couple of the players stayed down with their families and friends. A couple of them went to the club and had a couple of beers.
“I can imagine they were quite muted as well, they put a lot of work into this game. I think they were more favourable of their beds as opposed to a beer!
“I have already watched a game of Wrexham’s, we’ve got them on Saturday in the FA Trophy. So the prep goes back to Wrexham this weekend.
“But, as soon as we find out what day the FA Cup game is, we will then work backwards in terms of some games.
“I will have a look at Everton’s fixtures, if they’ve got any in the southern area - that I am available to go to - I will most definitely go and pop to a game.”
