Bordeaux forward Alberth Elis underwent surgery following a serious head injury sustained during a Ligue 2 match against Guingamp. The incident occurred just 40 seconds into the game at Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux, when Elis collided with Guingamp defender Donatien Gomis and had to be carried off on a stretcher.
Following the collision, Elis was immediately taken to the hospital and underwent surgery during the night. The 28-year-old Honduras international had to be placed in an induced coma as part of his treatment. Bordeaux, who emerged victorious with a 1-0 win over Guingamp, stated that they would be closely monitoring Elis's condition in the hospital over the coming days.
