Boozy Brits are notorious for overindulging in alcohol whilst on holiday - especially during trips abroad - with holidaymakers regularly sinking more than the weekly recommended amounts in just a single session. Research surprisingly discovered that women were the heaviest holiday drinkers.
The study by experts at private rehab clinic Delamere found 20 per cent of holidaymakers said they consumed two alcoholic drinks each day and 18 per cent reported drinking a total of three beverages. Shockingly, five per cent of those polled admitted to consuming eight alcoholic drinks per day while on holiday.
With the NHS stating that the absolute limit for weekly alcohol consumption should be ‘six pints of average-strength beer or 10 small glasses of low-strength wine’, it becomes evident that some UK tourists up their alcohol intake to harmful levels after landing in their favourite resorts.
