Boozed-up Celtic yobs left a trail of destruction in an Ayrshire town with ultras graffiti sprayed on a church.
Residents of Girvan have been left furious by the antics of football fans who sunk beers and urinated in alleyways.
Supporters had stopped off in the town after Sunday's Old Firm showdown with rivals Rangers at Celtic Park.
The travelling Hoops fans were being carted back to Cairnryan to head for ferries back across the water.
But disgusted residents have told how the fans ran amok using spray paint cans to write slogans all over bus stops and walls after arriving shortly after 5pm.
Milestone Church near to the harbour fell victim to vandalism with ‘Ultras Celtic’ plastered in black spray paint over their walls.
Minister Adam Oellerman of the Bridge Street Christian church says he was disappointed to wake up to the mess.
Adam told Ayrshire Live: “We work hard to serve the local community, I can understand people want to enjoy a celebration and be together after a football match.
“But to go and spray walls, it is a bit sad.
“We had a fire that started at the entrance of the church a few weeks ago, that was a bit of a setback so to now have this kind of graffiti is disappointing.”
It is understood bus loads of fans partied in a nightclub and bar Flix during their short stop over which sits above the family church.
Bar boss Forbes Robertson says fans of both sides of the Old Firm stop off at the venue on their way back to the ferries but are not known to cause trouble.
And he has vowed to go and paint over the graffiti covering the church walls.
Forbes said: “They are normally first class, they come down here before they go back on the boat.
“I can only apologise for the inconvenience, I’ll go back down there and paint over it.”
Forbes says he will stop hosting the fans if disorder continues in the town.
Resident Craig Bradshaw says he cleared up his alleyway of eight bottles of beer and tried to wash away urine.
Craig said: “You could smell the urine all the way along the lane, I had to clear all the bottles away, they have sprayed houses along here with ‘UC’.
“Neighbours were really concerned by it, they were really loud and singing walking down the street.
"They were down the harbour where there was children and families enjoying the weather."
South Ayrshire Council leader Peter Henderson has slammed the unacceptable behaviour in his ward.
He said: “It is just an example of football fans not controlling their behaviour.
“These people have no respect for others, it is totally out of order.”
Cops are now carrying out a probe after the ugly scenes in the town and are understood to be talking to concerned residents.
Inspector Ian McColl of Girvan Police Station said: “We received a report of vandalism to a building on Bridge Street in Girvan around 9.45am on Monday, May 2.
“The incident is believed to have happened the previous evening.
“Enquiries are ongoing and at an early stage.”
