Boots shoppers rave about £11 anti-ageing cream that's 'better than £275 La Mer'

A multi-functioning anti-ageing cream for sale at Boots has been widely praised by skincare fans. The Olay product, which “reduces wrinkles” and knocks years off skin, has been heavily discounted for a limited time, and is said to be “better than” high-end brands like La Mer.

Normally, the Olay Total Effects Anti-Ageing 7in1 Day Moisturiser is priced at £16.50, but is currently on offer for just £11 at Boots and £9.11 on Amazon. The moisturiser claims to “fight the seven signs of ageing” and also includes SPF15 to help protect the skin from sun damage, ChronicleLive reports.

On the Boots website, the cream has racked up over 2,600 reviews, with an average rating of 4.5 stars out of five. One happy customer, called Levi1987, urged others to “BUY IT!”

They added: “I have been using Olay Total Effects day moisturiser for about 5 weeks now and I can honestly say that it is the best day cream I have used! It really does do exactly what it says on the box, my pore size has markedly reduced, my complexion looks smooth/even and brighter and crows feet are no more! I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND it!”

Sehar said it was a favourite among their family members, writing: “Holy grail product for everyone age 40 and above. My mum, my aunts they all loved it.” And EmRe added: “Great product, my skin absorbed it very good. Great hydrating cream before applying primer and foundation.”

Some people argued it is even better than a cream from luxury skincare brand La Mer, which sells a moisturiser for £150 for 30ml or £275 60ml. Meg90 said: “I used this day and night cream for five years, and absolutely loved it, and my skin looked great.

“Then I turned 30 last year, and started to panic so I started buying high end products, and I mean high end with brands including La Mer, and my skin has never looked so horrible and spotty so last week I decided to buy this day and night cream again, and one week in, and my skin is back to looking great. I just don’t understand this! I’ve always stood by the 'you only get what you pay for' motto, but clearly this isn’t the case.”

One complaint some people had was that the cream can leave their face feeling greasy, especially for those with oily skin. Although there was some disagreement on this in the comments, with others insisting that it isn't greasy.

C1997 said: “Ive been using this for around a month now. I've noticed my skin smoother and more even, plus my fine lines around my eyes less noticeable. I do find by the end of the day my face is a bit greasy, but because the visible improvement in my complexion I'm willing to go with it! Love the clean pump and cap for travelling.”

The Olay cream is said to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, while evening skin tone, refining pores, smoothing skin texture and brightening the complexion, while restoring the skin's firmness and moisturising. It contains niacinamide and antioxidants, which help to gently exfoliate and enhance the skin's natural self-renewal process.

At Boots, the cream is on sale for £11, saving customers £5.50 off the standard price of £16.50. However, shoppers do still have to pay either £1.50 for click and collect (free when you spend over £15) or £3.75 for standard delivery (free when you spend over £25).

The cream is also for sale on Amazon, with the online retailer pricing it at £10.45. Shoppers with a Prime account can benefit from free next day delivery.
