Boots Ireland has launched a handy 2-in-1 service that will protect eligible groups from flu and Covid illnesses this winter.
Health officials have been voicing their concern over the potential for the next wave of the virus to arrive this winter, with potential measures on the way.
At this point, no official announcements have been made, however, Health Minister Stephen Donnelly said case numbers and hospital figures are multiplying.

Masks could be re-introduced on public transport and in healthcare settings if things continue to deteriorate.
So, if you want to ensure you’re protected against the virus this winter, you can book your Flu and Covid jab online with Boots.
All those eligible for their next Covid vaccine can avail of it alongside their Flu vaccine in stores nationwide.
Boots pharmacies are offering the following services:
- Winter Flu Vaccination Service for adults aged 18 and above
- Winter Flu Nasal Vaccination Service for children aged 2 – 17 years
- Covid-19 Vaccination Service for children and adults aged 12 years and above
- Winter Flu Plus Covid-19 Vaccination Service for adults aged 18 years and above
According to a spokesperson for the health and beauty chain, “To avail of the vaccinations, customers will need to be eligible for each vaccine with no clinical contradictions.”
The flu vaccination will be free of charge for anyone who is part of recommended groups listed by the HSE such as:
- those over the age of 65 or
- anyone over the age of 18 within at-risk groups
For anyone else wishing to receive a flu jab, there will be a charge of €30.
There will also be no charge for Covid-19 vaccinations, but patients must only attend for their dose in line with HSE eligibility criteria.

To book an appointment, go to boots.ie./winter-flu-vaccination-service, read some key information to ensure the service is suitable for you, complete the pre-consultation form for the service that you or your child wish to avail of, and book an appointment for a time that suits you.
Speaking at the launch of the service, Caoimhe McAuley, Director of Pharmacy and Superintendent Pharmacist at Boots said, “This year, we are delighted to be able to offer our customers vaccinations against both flu and Covid-19.
“We know that these viruses are easily transmitted through the winter season and that being vaccinated is the best way of reducing your chances of being infected with or suffering from complications that can arise from either.
“We also know that vaccinations should reduce the spread within the community. Our online booking system makes it convenient for customers and will minimise waiting times where possible.”
Each winter, it is important to limit the spread of infection within the community and indeed to keep those close to us safe. Aside from vaccinations, there are other measures that can be taken to support the immune system.
“A full range of vitamins and supplements can be found at boots.ie/vitaminsandsupplements. Expert pharmacist advice is also available in your local Boots pharmacy store.”
