The 5km Boots Night Walk in aid of the Irish Cancer Society is back in person this week and will take to the Phoenix Park on Friday.
The annual event, which supports the night nurse service provided by the charity, is back in person for the first time since the pandemic. The public are being asked to take part at the Phoenix Park but are also welcome to take part wherever it suitable once they complete 5k.
Since the night walk began in 2012, €2.5 million has been raised for the service, providing 7,200 nights of care. You can sign up for the event which takes place this Friday, September 9, at www.bootsnightwalk.com.

It is also possible to donate to the brilliant charity at the same link. For those who are shopping in Boots stores, Honour Tags are now available for €2 in honour of someone who has survived or passed away from cancer.
Ambassador Darren Kennedy said: “I am so delighted to be part of this initiative. The Irish Cancer Society Night Nurses provide an incredible service to those who need it at one of the most distressing times in their lives. The support and kindness they provide is unparalleled and I applaud them for continuing to provide this immensely important service."
Managing Director at Boots Ireland, Stephen Watkins, said: “This year the Boots Night Walk is back in person and hopes to be the biggest one yet. Boots Ireland is calling upon the public to sign up and walk 5km together this autumn in support of the Irish Cancer Society Night Nurses."
Speaking at the launch of the Boots Night Walk campaign, Irish Cancer Society Night Nurse, Mary Twohill, said: “The support we feel and receive at the Boots Night Walk each year is always so strong. Our job is to care for patients towards the end of their cancer journeys and give comfort to their friends and families, we wouldn’t be able to do this without the funds raised by Boots Ireland and the Irish Cancer Society.
"Our service enables our patients to be comfortable and in an environment where they can spend their final days with their loved ones. We’re able to support the friends and families by giving them the respite and emotional care they need when they need it most."
