For some people, the dry, indoor air of winter can cause flare-ups of eczema. But for others, it's the summer months where their skin is at its worst, as a result of sweating, outdoor allergens, and increased exposure to sunlight.
The inflammatory skin condition often causes itchiness, dry skin, rashes, scaly patches, blisters and even skin infections. For those who live with it, eczema be incredibly uncomfortable and painful, and will try anything to keep it at bay.
One eczema sufferer, Tayler Alexis, was suffering with a recent flare up on her face, where her eyelids were cracked and swollen, and her skin painful to touch. However, just 10 days later, it had completely disappeared after using an affordable skincare range that’s available at Boots.
Sharing images of her dry and flaking skin, which covered her face, Tayler said: “This was me 10 days ago, I have suffered from eczema on my face for the last several years now and have not found any relief.”
The content creator told her followers how she went to TikTok and discovered Byoma skincare, going on to purchase a cleanser, serum and moisturiser from the range. “I was pretty desperate at this point,” she explained. “My eyelids were super swollen, cracking and painful. It was 10/10 the most uncomfortable thing ever. So I was willing to try anything.”
Then, Tayler shared a photo of her face 10 days on, and the results are remarkable. Her skin is completely clear - glowing even - without a dry, flaky patch of eczema in sight. She said: “After 10 days of using this product, this is my skin. I'm obsessed.” The post went viral, racking up 1.6million views on the video sharing app, and thousands of comments from other eczema sufferers who swear by the brand.
One said: “Byoma is amazing. It helped with my eczema and so did the Cerave healing ointment.” Another added: “The milky oil cleanser literally saved my face. It has helped my face more than any wash my dermatologist recommended.” With a third commenting: “I love Byoma, I haven’t used anything else in the last year it's so good.”
The three products Tayler used were the Byoma Creamy Jelly Cleaner, usually £9.99, the Byoma Hydrating Serum, usually £12.99, and the Byoma Moisturising Gel Cream, usually £11.99. However, Boots currently has up to 15 per cent off, knocking up to £1.80 off the prices, making it the cheapest place to buy the range at the moment - although some have been price matched at Amazon.
Overall, the three skincare saviours have racked up more than 1,000 five star reviews with shoppers describing it as ‘magic’, though some have complained about the pump dispenser on the moisturiser, and the serum’s dropper applicator.
Last May, I tried Byoma for myself and wrote a review on how I was ‘convinced it was going to go viral’ and it seems exactly that has happened. Founded by the product perfectionist, Marc Elrick, Byoma offers a ‘no filters, no fluff’ approach to skincare. The Tan-Luxe founder described his venture as: “The brand that’s here to challenge and change the future of skincare “
I tried out the Byoma creamy jelly cleanser, moisturising gel cream and brightening serum - almost the exact same combo as Tayler - which offers a super simple three-step routine that’s a real joy to complete.
The bottles each have a tactile rectangular shape, meaning they all sit very nicely next to each other on the shelf or in a cupboard, and have their own fun, neon coloured branding. They’re all made from recyclable materials, too, making them better for the environment.
Out of the range, the moisturising gel cream is my favourite when my skin is particularly dry. It uses a tri-ceramide complex alongside brightening niacinamide and green tea extract to offer soothing results that will hydrate the skin all summer.
The texture is quite balmy so it feels amazing when you slather it onto the skin, and makeup sits on it nicely without pilling, which is what we love to see in a moisturiser.
