Boots has revealed its Christmas campaign focused on the theme 'Joy for All' complete with an 80s inspired festive advert. The ‘Joy for All’ TV advert will air for the first time on Friday 4th November during Gogglebox on Channel 4.
In the 'magical and upflifting' advert, Boots aim to capture the true spirit of Christmas and celebrate the feeling of joy we experience from spending time with loved ones. The advert also features BAFTA-nominated actor Lydia West who recently starred in the Channel 4 show, It's a Sin.
Holly played by Lydia discovers a pair of magical spectacles on the bus which allows her to see what brings people true joy whenever she wears them. Along with the 80s' inspired wardrobe and styling, the advert is set to Halls & Oates's hit song, 'You Make My Dreams (Come True)'
Holly is able to see her subdued fellow commuters turn into festive partygoers by just putting the glasses on. She also brings joy to whoever she encounters while wearing the glasses including a colleague who loves bubble baths and her cousin who dreams of getting dressed up or even her dad who loves his pet dog.
When Christmas morning arrives, Holly watches her loved ones open presents that spark their true joy as they unwrap the gifts. The advert ends as the owner of the magic spectacles is finally revealed.
Anyone visiting Boots stores over Christmas will be able to pick up a pair of 'magical' 3D spectacles for themselves from just £2 per pair. Boots will donate 50p from every sale to The Prince's Trust. Customers can purchase Christmas cards, gift wraps and tags, designed by a young person through The Princes Trust, with proceeds going to the charity.
Pete Markey, chief marketing officer at Boots UK, Nottinghamshire's largest company, said: “Our customers are telling us they want this Christmas to be a joyful time with loved ones, particularly after another turbulent year. The story of Holly and her magical spectacles shows that finding the right gift for the right person can spark that feeling of joy both for the giver and the recipient. Our extensive range of gifts means that people can be confident that with Boots there is ‘Joy for All’ this Christmas”.
Lydia West commented: “Christmas is my favourite time of year and like Holly, I enjoy the feeling of picking a present for someone that I know they are going to love. My time on set filming the Boots campaign got me feeling festive and excited to think about what is going to make my own friends and family smile with joy on Christmas morning”.
The advert launches as Boots prepares to hold its biggest-ever Black Friday event across stores and its Star Gift program. The store is also celebrating it's most sustainable Christmas yet as 100 percent of the gifting range is now free from secondary plastic for the second year in a row. This helps to save over 2000 tonnes of plastic waste.
