Bootle FC open clubhouse five nights a week to help people with cost-of-living crisis

The cost-of-living crisis has left many people across the UK struggling to make ends meet. The weather’s getting colder and staying warm is coming at a premium. So Bootle FC have offered to help in these difficult times.

They’ve announced that their clubhouse will be open 5-10pm, Monday to Friday. Free hot drinks will be available in a warm and safe place, where you can relax and watch TV.

Free local transport can also be arranged by the ‘The Bucks’ to those who are unable to get to and from the club.

Club committee member, Joe Johnson, said: “We are a community club in the heart of Sefton and one of the most deprived areas of the country. We know many people around the local area are really struggling and can’t afford to heat their homes.

“We have decided to help where we can by offering a safe place for people to come, have a hot drink or two and try and take some financial pressure off them.”

This gesture speaks volumes about Bootle FC and displays the family and community spirit they have instilled since they were first formed in 1879.

Johnson added: “We are also currently working on joining up with local organisations to offer afternoon sessions and support groups too. If it takes off, we can offer some meals and extra support for those who really need it.”

This joins many other acts the Merseyside club has done over the years to help others and promote inclusion.
