A bootcamp is taking place this week aimed at increasing the number of black women working in tech.
Niyo Bootcamps will run its inaugural DistruptHER Talent Expo on March 31 as a virtual event.
Niyo is an organisation that works to economically empower black women which includes running digital skills bootcamps geared towards those looking for a pathway into a tech career.
The bootcamps include software testing, supporting black female start-up founders, data analytics, project management and full-stack software development
The DistruptHER Talent Expo is a virtual event showcasing the black women who have completed or are taking part in Niyo's digital skills bootcamps.
Supported by the West Midlands Combined Authority, the event will connect learners with businesses, creating new career pathways for those looking to move into or progress within the UK tech sector.
Oyinkansola Adebayo, founder of Birmingham-based Niyo Group, said: "It's absolutely crucial we empower more black women to work and succeed in the UK tech industry.
"Tackling the digital skills gap requires a truly diverse talent pool but more important still is the need to have diverse and representative teams involved in the creation of digital products and services, preventing bias and ensuring inclusivity."
