When Jake Diebler took over the Ohio State men’s basketball program, one of his main focuses was to keep some of the best Ohioans from leaving the state.
You can say part of his mission was accomplished on Monday afternoon, as the Buckeyes accepted a commitment from Cleveland shooting guard Dorian Jones. The 6-foot, 4-inch and 160-pound scorer is the first 2025 commitment for Ohio State and the second in-state player to verbal to Diebler following fellow Cleveland native Marcus Johnson in the 2026 class.
Jones is ranked as a 4-star prospect, the country’s No. 72 overall prospect and 12th ranked shooting guard according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Ohio State beat out Michigan, Rutgers and Missouri for Jones’ commitment. Hopefully this is a sign of more good things to come for the Buckeyes basketball team.
