Bookmakers issue verdict on five players linked with Leeds United during January transfer window

Leeds United have just 11 more days to get any business done in this transfer window.

After two and a half weeks with minimal movement in the market, Andrea Radrizzani finally looks as though he is may be getting his chequebook ready.

According to The Athletic, the Whites had a £15m bid rejected by Red Bull Salzburg for Brenden Aaronson on Tuesday evening but plan to return with a higher offer.

With the Austrian Bundesliga leaders said to be reluctant to sell the young midfielder, it would not be unreasonable to expect negotiations to fall through. It, of course, largely rests on whether the player himself is open to a Premier League switch.

Regardless of whether a deal is agreed, Leeds have shown that they have a bit of money to play with this month and that could lead to offers for others before the end of January.

There are several other players who continue to be linked with moves to Elland Road and we have taken a look at the five players who Grosvenor Casinos believe could be signed by the Whites this month.

Eddie Nketiah – 6/1

Eddie Nketiah seems to have been linked with a return to Leeds purely because he spent time with the club on loan in the 2019/20 season.

Patrick Bamford’s injuries this season have exposed the lack of depth in the frontline but it doesn’t seem as though Marcelo Bielsa is in the market for another striker.

Despite the 22-year-old’s clear desire to leave the Emirates, Arsenal would expect a substantial fee for his services. A loan might present itself as an opportunity but it is hard to imagine Nketiah will be happy being back up to another forward at this stage of his career.

Ryan Kent – 11/1

Ryan Kent is a player who has been linked with a move to Leeds in the past and continues to be the subject of reported interested from the Premier League.

However, the signing of Dan James back in August makes it highly unlikely that the club would be willing to invest in yet another wide midfielder.

The only way that a move for the Rangers winger would be likely is if one the widemen was to leave Elland Road before the end of the month.

Ross Barkley – 12/1

After never really being part of the first-team plans at Chelsea, Ross Barkley is linked with a move away in almost every transfer window.

According to Grosvenor, there are still four Premier League clubs with the chance of signing him either temporarily or permanently.

Of those teams, Leeds are seen as the least likely with Everton (7/2), Newcastle (4/1) and Burnley (6/1) seen as more probable destinations.

Donny van de Beek – 16/1

Like Barkley, Donny van de Beek has been the topic of much discussion over the last few weeks as he has been linked with a loan departure throughout.

While it looks increasingly likely that he will stay at Manchester United, there are still a number of clubs that could make a move.

Leeds are, once again, seen as vast outsiders with Newcastle (5/1) and Everton (6/1) seen as a couple of the other possible destinations for the Dutchman this month.

Ben Brereton-Diaz – 20/1

In what is a popular theme in this list of players, Ben Brereton-Diaz has also been heavily linked with a move away from his current club this month.

Initially, Leeds were one of the front runners for his signature but they have drifted significantly.

Brighton (5/2) are favourites to bring him in from Blackburn between now and the end of January but there are also a few European teams that could make a late move with Sevilla (8/1) and AC Milan (14/1) among them.
