BOOKIES have tipped a former Rangers hero and Nicola Sturgeon for a trip down under for the next series of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.
Skybet have priced up popular pundit Ally McCoist as a 20/1 shot to make the line-up later this year – with the award-winning pundit admitting he "is a big fan" of the show.
But he is not the shortest price Scot on the bookmaker’s list – with former first minister Nicola Sturgeon quoted ahead of him in the betting at just 16/1.
It effectively means the bookmakers think there is a 6% chance of Sturgeon going on the programme.
If she did decide to head to the jungle, the Glasgow Govan MSP would follow in the footsteps of former Scottish Labour leader Kezia Dugdale, who caused a storm within the party in 2017 when she agreed to take part without formal approval.
Ex Rangers and Scotland striker McCoist has long been linked with the show and previously revealed on his talkSPORT breakfast show that he was asked to feature on the ITV reality show in 2019, but rejected the chance to take part.
The footballer said that his family – who are self-proclaimed fans of the jungle - had "taken the huff with him" after he turned producers’ advances.
He said: "The bit where you jump out of the helicopter or plane at the start, I'd like to do that. But then the rest is downhill.
"You don't really know until you're there, but I actually think being in the coffin with the rats and snakes, from where I'm sitting right now, I don't think that would bother me that much.
"I'm not a fan of cockroaches through.
"We watch it as a family and Ant and Dec are magic.”
Two other Scots are included on the bookie’s shortlist, with Wimbledon hero Sir Andy Murray priced at 28/1 and morning TV royalty Lorraine Kelly a 66/1 shot.
