Boohoo's Rare Beauty liquid blush dupe is £15 less than the original

For beauty lovers trying to achieve this summer’s sun kissed make-up look, liquid blushes have been the season’s go-to in doing just that.

Singer and actress Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty line has been at the forefront of the effortlessly minimal makeup routine. And in particular, the Rare Beauty liquid blushes have caused a frenzy online - with the blushes, retailed at £19, amassing over 178 million views on TikTok.

More so, fast fashion retailer Boohoo has found that searches for ‘rare beauty dupe’ have soared by 224 per cent and now the brand has created its own dupe for £15 cheaper.

The original Rare Beauty liquid blushes come in a wide range of shades, from dusky rose pink to bright coral, with fans raving that after applying one tiny dot to the apples of their cheeks will provide a densely pigmented application.

The blush hack has sent social media wild, with many MUAs heading to TikTok to demonstrate how to successfully have a healthy-looking glow. One of the most popular TikToks that helped catapult the Rare Beauty liquid blush into popularity was by user @youglowgrrl, who posted a video attempting the brand’s blush and liquid highlighter combo.

The video was captioned “Trying the viral @rarebeauty blush and highlighter hack #rarebeauty #selenagomez #beautytips #beautyhacks #makeuphacks”, with the video garnering 102.7k likes and 402 comments.

For makeup fans who are hoping to succeed in the ‘no makeup’ makeup look on a budget, the Boohoo version aims to emulate Rare Beauty’s full coverage formula. The blush is said to be applied as a liquid which transforms into a powder, to offer both a silky and mattifying feel onto the cheek area.

Boohoo’s liquid blush is not the first time the brand has attempted to win over beauty lovers- previously its Fenty Beauty highlighter dupes were seen to create a shimmer on the cheekbones like its original.

In other Boohoo related news, Boohoo Group has said that it has been charged by HMRC over polybag content. As reported by Drapers, a letter was provided to product suppliers on August 26 which detailed that some polybags do not have the certificate to confirm the recycled content for.

To add, the charge will be implemented onto suppliers if the the polybag supplier name and contact details, including a monthly report, a certification of recycled content - either Global Recycled Standard (GRS) or Standard Global Services (SGS) certification) and a confirmation of the percentage of recycled content (over 50% minimum).

A Boohoo Group spokesperson said: "In preparation for the new policy which came into effect April around Plastic Packaging Tax, our labelling and packaging team sourced a nominated a global supplier who produces 100% certified recycled material and recyclable packaging, which complies with both our ambition and the new guidance.

"We communicated all of this to our suppliers but provided them with an option of continuing to use their own suppliers, as long as they could certify that the poly bags they use were at least 50% recycled material, made from LDPE (low density polyethylene) only and a number of other standards."

They added: "To support them in managing this change we have covered the cost of any HMRC charge so far, but to ensure that our suppliers are complying with our UpFront goal: By 2023 all customer garment packaging will be reusable, recyclable or compostable and any plastic used will contain over 50% recycled content, we have been clear that this will become the responsibility of suppliers in the near future."
