Bono returns to Mount Temple school in Clontarf for surprise visit with sixth year students

The students of Mount Temple Comprehensive School in Clontarf were treated to a surprise visit from one of the school's most famous students today.

U2 frontman Bono took time out to visit the sixth year students of the school were the band were famously formed. It all began in September 1976 when drummer Larry Mullen posted a notice looking to form a new band and all members of U2 are former students of the school.

Tweeting a picture of the visit, the U2 account simply said: "Was back in the library at Mount Temple. The future is bright indeed." Bono was surrounded by students who looked delighted to be treated to the exciting moment.

The school was abuzz this morning with rumours that Bono would be paying them a visit, Independent.ie reports. All would be revealed at 2.30pm when as assembly was called with the students in the library.

Students there said he read a bit from his new memoir and that they could not take pictures or record any video, but that a crew was there filming the exchange. Bono's book Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story is out on November 1.
