Bolton Wanderers player ratings vs Sheffield Wednesday - Hosts have off day against Owls

James Trafford - 6

Manchester City loanee saved Santos from comical own-goal before conceding opener. Not helped by defence with either goal.

Gethin Jones - 6.5

Did okay on the right hand side of the back three. Probably one of the few Wanderers players who performed to an extent on an overall off day.

Ricardo Santos - 4.5

Skipper returned to starting XI following recent suspension and had looked good in opening half an hour. But huge error in possession led to opening goal and looked shaky afterwards throughout.

George Johnston - 5

Put in several interceptions and passes into the final third, but failed to track Liam Palmer for second goal. Lot of Wednesday attacks went down his flank which he struggled with at times.

Conor Bradley - 6.5

Liverpool loanee continued bright start to Bolton loan spell with runs down the right channel, but needed to hit the target with huge one-on-one chance. Booked in the second half.

Aaron Morley - 5.5

A rare game where the midfielder struggled to get much meanignful involvement or dictate play as usual. Replaced on the hour mark.

MJ Williams - 6.5

Added some steel in the middle of the park for Wanderers with challenges to add some bite in midfield.

Kyle Dempsey - 5.5

Operated in left hand channel and worked hard during encounter but didn't make huge impact. Dragged shot wide in the second half.

Jack Iredale - 5

Came into the team for Declan John at left wing-back. Saw second half free-kick parried to safety by David Stockdale, but many attacks came down left side of the pitch.

Dapo Afolayan - 6.5

Tried to create opportunities and had Bolton's first shot on target in the game. Went into number 10 role in second half and seemed to create more there.

Amadou Bakayoko - 5

Worked hard but no opportunities to speak of in difficult shift upfront and was replaced on the hour.

Substitutes:

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson - 6

Gave Wanderers more of a focal point to attacks when he came on.

Dion Charles - 6

Looked good upon return from injury after being named on the bench.

Kieran Sadlier - 4

Booked in closing stages and didn't make a great impact.

Elias Kachunga - 5

Tried to be creative in the final third when coming on.

Declan John - 4

Didn't make much of an impact after coming on in closing stages.
