Bolton Wanderers player ratings vs Plymouth Argyle - Ricardo Santos and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson good

James Trafford - 6

Dealt with what the Pilgrims threw at him in the first half with saves he'd expect to make but couldn't keep opener out. Slight confusion with Aimson in second half, but kept out Ryan Hardie effort before the end.

Will Aimson - 6.5

Fairly decent defensively but distribution out from the ball, particularly long balls, could have been better. Partnered Santos at the back in formation switch.

Ricardo Almeida Santos - 7.5

Good in individual battles as has come to be expected from the Wanderers skipper and kept Plymouth's Ryan Hardie quiet through much of the encounter.

George Johnston - 6

Generally good going forwards to help support attacks but was beaten by Gillesphey for opening goal in key moment. Brought off early in second half for Sadlier.

Marlon Fossey - 6.5

Got forward occassionally in the first half but was quiet by his standards. Better after the break but had to come off before the end with a limp.

MJ Williams - 6.5

Did job in the team to break up play fairly well, and improved after the break in 4-2-3-1 formation. Put in great cross for Charles header which Michael Cooper saved.

Aaron Morley - 7

Bright on the ball in the middle of the park throughout for Wanderers and looked to get things going. One of the brighter performances throughout from a Bolton perspective.

Declan John - 6

Put in the odd cross from the right flank in opening half. Better after the formation switch like so many others in the Wanderers team but lacked end product.

Dapo Afolayan - 6.5

Started in the number 10 role but influence and impact nowhere near the same in that position compared to out on the left flank. Better on the left flank after formation switch early in second half.

Dion Charles - 6

Saw first half shot blocked and watched Michael Cooper deny goal bound header. Frustrating afternoon for Northern Ireland international who needs a goal.

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson - 7

Only change made from the midweek draw against Morecambe. Some good touches and tackles from the Iceland international to put team-mates into promising positions.

Substitutes:

Kieran Sadlier - 7

Went to number 10 role after coming on and looked bright as he makes a case for a start to come his way.

Elias Kachunga - 6.5

Somehow didn't get the equaliser within moments of coming on after being deployed on the right flank.

Amadou Bakayoko - 6.5

Went as the central striker after coming off the bench and added some energy in the final third.
