Ricardo Santos will remain in hospital as he undergoes further tests, Bolton Wanderers have confirmed.
The Wanderers skipper missed the match against Bristol City after being admitted to hospital with a viral infection. The defender had been using breathing apparatus.
Santos is now feeling far better but remains in the care of the NHS with further testing taking place. A club update read: "Rico is feeling much improved, but has remained in hospital and is undergoing tests following a viral infection. The skipper has been in touch with staff and team-mates and we wish him well for a continued recovery."

Speaking after the 1-1 draw, Evatt said his captain was improving in a positive update. He said: “The latest that I know is that he’s still finding it difficult to breathe by himself on his own, so he’s got some sort of breathing apparatus to assist him. He does feel slightly better today which is positive.
“But obviously he’s having lots of tests, lots of help and support from Bolton fans within the hospital which is good news. As a football club and as a family, we rally around him and the rest of his family and wish him a really speedy recovery.
“He’s in the best possible place and all we can do now is say a prayer for him and hope that he’ll recover sooner rather than later and be back with us.”
