Bolton Wanderers' injury update ahead of Barnsley clash as defender suffers injury blow

Bolton Wanderers duo Amadou Bakayoko and Kyle Dempsey are back available for the Whites this Saturday against Barnsleey but Ian Evatt has confirmed that defender Eoin Toal will miss the encounter.

Wanderers are back at home at the weekend in League One aiming to return to winning ways. They host the Tykes at the University of Bolton Stadium.

The Whites sit just outside the top six following back to back losses in the division. They will be seeking to respond from successive 1-0 defeats on the road against Cheltenham Town and Forest Green Rovers.

Attacker Bakayoko and midfielder Dempsey were not part of the matchday squad last time out at the New Lawn against the Green Devils. Evatt explained after the encounter that Bakayoko was being rested following recent international exploits with Sierra Leone, while Dempsey suffered a hip injury against the Robins which kept him out of the trip to Forest Green.

But both are now back available for the clash against the Tykes. The only fresh injury concern is that defender Toal will be missing the clash after suffering a slight thigh problem in the B team clash against Lincoln City in midweek.

He said: “Owen Toal picked up a slight thigh strain in the B team game on Tuesday. Nothing serious but enough to probably keep him out of Saturday. Everyone else is fine.

“I don’t think it’s any different to what we know we’re going to come up against. We know really well what Michael’s teams look like, we’ve faced them for the last two years.

“What I’ve seen of Barnsley, we do a lot of prep and due diligence and it’s very similar. Probably a little slight tactical tweak from Cheltenham, more 3-4-3 than 3-5-2, but we have a plan, we know what we need to do, don’t worry about us being at home at all, so we’re looking forward to it.

“I’m always contemplating changes. I think it’s important we don’t have knee jerk. We must have some perspective that two bad results in five days does not make us a bad team. It’s not like those games weren't really close, the second game we should have won comfortably and on another day would have.”
