Bolton Wanderers have handed Ricardo Santos a brand new contract to tie their captain down to fresh terms.
The 26-year-old defender has signed a new deal which will keep him at the University of Bolton Stadium until the summer of 2025. It puts him in the same bracket as Dion Charles, Jack Iredale and Aaron Morley as having the longest deals at Wanderers.
Eight players were released after their deals at the club come to a conclusion this summer. Defenders Alex Baptiste and Liam Gordon, as well as midfielder Andrew Tutte and attacker Nathan Delfouneso are among those to leave Wanderers.

More business is being sought to be done ahead of the new season. Ian Evatt has previously said that he wants the bulk of his recruitment to be done by the time the players return for pre-season training.
Wanderers are due to report back to the club's Lostock training base on June 17, before flying out to Portugal a few days later for a pre-season training camp. Six pre-season fixtures are currently on the club's schedule with more expected to be added, before the start of the new League One season at the end of July.
Here's a round-up of the contract expiry dates of all the senior players on the books at Wanderers and in every department of the squad. It shows that the club have multiple players in the central midfield and attacking departments whose deals run out in the summer of 2023 as things stand.
