Bolton Wanderers came from behind to claim a dramatic late point at home to Morecambe.
Wanderers began the clash at the University of Bolton Stadium exceptionally well and could have been a few goals to the good by half-time.
Dion Charles missed a glorious chance and struck the crossbar with another effort, while Amadou Bakayoko saw an effort land wide.
But Cole Stockton gave the visitors the advantage after making the most of George Johnston's short pass to give the Shrimps the lead at the break.
Wanderers huffed and puffed after the break but got a stoppage time equaliser when Xavier Amaechi teed up fellow substitute Jon Dadi Bodvarsson to net late on and salvage a point.
After the game, Wanderers boss Ian Evatt spoke to the press and here's his immediate reaction.
What did you make of it?
“I thought first half we were unbelievable at times and breathtaking. You have to understand against teams like that and you create that many chances, even against a low block, you have to score.
"We have to be more ruthless and clinical. We had some great opportunities and brilliant passages of play and we weren’t ruthless enough and then the last thing you need to do against teams that come and camp like that is give them a goal and we’ve gifted them a goal.
"Then they’ve got a little bit more spirit, a little bit more belief and they’re hanging on. It becomes really, really difficult and second half we huffed and puffed.
"We became a bit panicky and a bit emotional I think at times. I think the crowd are frustrated and emotional and then we start making irrational decisions, start forcing it a little bit or at times a little bit too safe when all we need to do is stay calm, composed and keep doing the things that we did and move and eventually it will open up for you.
"They can’t keep defending like that for 90 minutes and the one time we did move the ball with speed and tempo and two touch around the box, we scored.
"We had 80 per cent possession, 22 shots, it was a game we really should have won and that has to be a learning curve for us all that there’s no givens and there’s no gimmes in this league and the reputation as it builds and grows and more teams are going to come and do that, that first goal becomes vitally important and when you create the chances that we did, you have to make sure you take them.”
Emotions were running high with the two managers as well?
“I just protect my team and protect my players and I don’t want to see anyone lay hands on my players or anything like that or coming and getting involved in our technical area.
"I’m a Bolton Wanderers manager, I love my players and I’ll fight tooth and nail for them regardless of anything so all I was doing is protecting my team and my players.”
In the whole scheme of things, who knows how the season is going to unfold from here on in but it could be a precious point?
“Maybe and I’ve told you there’s going to be ups and downs. I haven’t seen the other results but from what I understand other teams have won.
"We can’t look at that, we just have to concentrate on ourselves and we’re all a bit down because it was a game we should have won but we did a lot of things right as well.
"Some of our football and play was exceptional at times and it would have been a travesty to not to get something out of the game.
"But also this is a new group and we’re learning and progressing all the time and we have to understand that this is going to happen more often and we cannot afford to give a goal away like that but also we have to make sure our forward players take the chances when we create them.”
